Luther Baxter was an introverted clown who dated Tracy Greaston, a member of the circus where he worked. One day, the jealousy of another member named Roxanne led her to inform Ralphio, the circus's strongman, that Luther was raping Tracy. Ralphio beat him without giving him a chance to explain. In revenge, Luther killed Roxanne and Ralphio, then fled the circus, where a rumor spread that the clown had committed suicide, and continued his killing spree.
