On March 12, 1945, Rosemary wrote a letter to her boyfriend, who had gone to fight in World War II, sadly confessing that she could no longer wait for him and would find a new love. After the war ended, the Queen Mary brought the victors home. Major Chatham, Rosemary's father, organized a graduation ball at his house, which was also attended by soldiers.
