A 15th-century Parisian judge and minister who, after pursuing and murdering the mother of a deformed baby, was discovered by the Archdeacon just as he was about to throw the infant into a well—an act that constituted a sin. Faced with this situation, Frollo had no choice but to hide the deformed child—whom he named Quasimodo—and raise him austerely in the bell towers of Notre Dame for nearly twenty years.
