The Astrologer

ORIGIN: In 1798, a Hungarian count employed a personal astrologer who always predicted the future using tarot cards. However, when the cards foretold the death of the count's wife and unborn child during childbirth, he exiled the astrologer and her daughter. After the prediction came true, the distraught count accused the woman of witchcraft, and his men murdered the astrologer's daughter. Consumed by a desire for revenge, she bound her soul to her tarot cards in a wooden box through a dark ritual, thus foretelling death for anyone who used them.

DESCRIPTION: A tall, grayish-skinned woman with horoscope symbols tattooed on her face, dark eyes, and black hair. She wears black clothing (a headdress, veil, an old-fashioned long-sleeved dress, and sandals). She embodies different figures illustrated on her cards to hunt down the cursed.
