Buddy Pine was a preteen with a talent for engineering who idolized Mr. Incredible and adopted the alias IncrediBoy—aspiring to be his crime-fighting sidekick—but the superhero always rejected him, adhering to his rule of working alone. About 15 years later, Buddy had become an arms dealer operating from the volcanic island of Nomanisan under the name of Syndrome; he had secretly murdered several superheroes using a robot he developed called the Omnidroid, which played a key role in his scheme to garner a reputation as a hero.

He wears a black mask, a black jumpsuit with a white "S", a black cape with an indigo interior, white mechanical gauntlets and boots of the same color with thrusters that allow him to fly. He is calculating, spiteful and infamous.
